WhatsApp link generator
Make a link that opens a WhatsApp chat with your number and a message already typed. Free, no sign-up.
How WhatsApp click-to-chat links work
WhatsApp supports links in this format:
https://wa.me/919876543210?text=Hi%2C%20I%20saw%20your%20post
Opening one starts a chat with that number, with your message already typed in the box. The person still has to tap send, so nothing is ever sent on their behalf. The same link works for personal and WhatsApp Business numbers, on phones and on WhatsApp for desktop and web.
Getting the number right
The number must be in full international format, digits only:
| Do | Don't |
|---|---|
919876543210 |
+91 98765 43210 |
| Country code first | A leading 0 before the number |
| Digits only | Spaces, dashes or brackets |
The generator cleans this up for you: pick the country code, type the number any way you like, and it removes the extra characters and a leading zero.
Leave the number empty to share a message
A link without a number, such as https://wa.me/?text=Check%20this%20out, opens WhatsApp and lets the person choose
who to send the message to. Use it for "share with a friend" buttons.
Where to use your link
- Instagram, Facebook and TikTok bios, so followers can message you in one tap.
- A "Chat with us" button on your website or online store.
- Email signatures and SMS campaigns.
- A QR code on packaging, menus, shop counters and flyers. Download it above.
Make your WhatsApp link trackable
A wa.me link cannot tell you how many people tapped it, or where they came from. Put it behind a short link and it can.
Create a free MiniSnip link that points to your wa.me link, with a readable alias like minisnip.com/chat or, on your
own domain, go.yourbrand.com/whatsapp. You will see every click with its country, device and source, with link-preview
bots filtered out. You can also change the pre-filled message later without changing the link you already shared.

Frequently asked questions
Is the message sent automatically?
No. The link only opens the chat with your text typed in. The person reads it and taps send themselves.
Does it work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. wa.me links work the same way for personal and WhatsApp Business numbers.
Can I make a link to a WhatsApp group?
Group links are created inside WhatsApp from the group's Invite via link option. They cannot include a pre-filled message, so this generator is for one-to-one chats.
Why does my link say the phone number is invalid?
Usually the country code is missing or there is an extra 0 before the number. Use the full international number with digits only, such as 919876543210 for an Indian mobile.
Can I see how many people clicked my WhatsApp link?
Not with a wa.me link alone. Shorten it with MiniSnip and every click is counted, with bots filtered out.
