Where MiniSnip is different

  • No ads on free links. Bitly labels its free plan "with ads". MiniSnip never shows ads to the people who click your links.
  • More room to start. A free MiniSnip account holds 25 links with no monthly limit, a QR code for each one and a custom alias on every link.
  • Clicks without bots. Messaging apps and social networks open every link to build its preview. MiniSnip recognises those visits and keeps them out of your click count, so a link shared in five WhatsApp groups doesn't show five fake clicks.
  • The real source of a click. Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram and LinkedIn often hide where a visitor came from. MiniSnip reads their in-app browsers, so "Direct" shrinks and you see which app actually sent people.
  • A custom domain for less. Pro costs $19 a month with three custom domains and unlimited links.

Where Bitly is a good fit

Bitly has been around for over a decade, has integrations with many marketing tools and offers enterprise contracts with dedicated support. If your company already runs on Bitly's enterprise plan and depends on those integrations, that is a good reason to stay.

You can't move bit.ly links, because Bitly owns that domain. If you used your own domain with Bitly, export your links to CSV, import the file into MiniSnip with the same aliases (Pro), then point your domain at MiniSnip. Every link you already printed or shared keeps working. Our checklist for choosing a Bitly alternative covers the details.

Frequently asked questions

Is MiniSnip really free?

Yes. The free plan has 25 links, QR codes, custom aliases, a link-in-bio page and 30 days of click data, with no ads and no card required.

Can I keep my old bit.ly links?

Links on bit.ly stay with Bitly. Links on your own domain can move: import them with the same aliases and point the domain at MiniSnip.

Does MiniSnip have an API?

Yes. Pro includes a REST API for creating, editing and reading links and clicks, plus webhooks.

Why are my click numbers lower than on Bitly?

MiniSnip doesn't count link-preview bots, crawlers and security scanners as clicks. What's left are people.
